Membership at Grace
Everyone is welcome to worship at Grace always, whether a member of not. Our goal is to serve the spiritual needs of the people who come to us. Becoming a member is a way to become a part of our congregation in a deeper and more meaningful way.
- It is a public statement of agreement with our teachings and goals.
- It opens up more areas of service.
- It affords the assurance of belonging to a caring group involved in important work.
Those who are members of Grace have become members in one of several ways:
- Transfer of Membership: for members of other Lutheran churches who desire membership at Grace. Simply request that a Letter of Transfer be sent from your home congregation to Grace.
- Affirmation of Faith: for members of Lutheran churches whose church memberships have lapsed for one reason or another. The person professes their faith in Jesus and their agreement with the doctrines of the Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod.
- Holy Baptism: either as infants or adults. Water is poured on the person’s head in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, most often during a worship service. This is only for those who have never been baptized before in any Christian church. Proper Baptisms performed in other Christian churches are recognized at Grace and need not be repeated.
- Confirmation: After a period of instruction (Junior Confirmation Class or the Adult Inquirers’ Class) the person professes their faith in Jesus and their agreement with the doctrines of the Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod.
Minor children are accepted with their parents. Unbaptized children are baptized as soon as possible to bring them into the fellowship of God’s family.
